Loop & Tie joins Pledge 1%
I often joke with our founder and CEO, Sara.
“You know we’re actually a sustainability company with a gifting problem, right?”
While meant jokingly, the reality is it’s true. Finding a more sustainable way to give back is at the heart of everything we do at Loop & Tie.
From the beginning, our mission has always been to reduce waste in corporate gifting and give back to our environment. As our company has evolved, so too has our ability to give back.
Our platform is now the world's first and only carbon-regenerative gifting platform. As climate change threatens our future, carbon neutrality isn’t doing enough to save our planet; carbon regeneration has to be the new norm. Because of this, we are committed to removing 2x the amount of carbon we put into the atmosphere through our shipping practices. Each year, we sequester 1.3 million pounds of carbon and have planted over 19 Central Parks' worth of trees. It’s through these land conservation efforts that we provide jobs and support communities around the world.
There are 18,000 trees in Central Park in New York City, New York.
Over 146 million tons of plastic are used annually in gifting. To reduce plastic finding its way to landfills, our packaging is made of 100% recyclable or biodegradable material. And to save one of our biggest shareholders — our ocean and its inhabitants — we are committed to removing harmful plastics from mid-ocean and ocean-bound sources. As a result, over 75,000 pounds of plastic have been removed to date.
Loop & Tie has helped remove over 75,000 pounds of plastic from our waterways.
While our efforts towards environmental sustainability continue to evolve, we’re also conscious that sustainability isn’t exclusively about giving back to our planet.
Acts of sustainability also extend to how we support the impact made on our society and economy. Thanks to your generosity, you’ve gifted-it-forward to almost 850 charitable organizations; the sum of that generosity totals over $1.6 million in charitable donations. In addition, the gifts you’ve sent from our platform have supported over 950 small businesses, which have helped their companies grow and supported their local communities.
For us, giving goes beyond the gift. And there’s much, much more we can do to give.
Today, we are excited to announce that we’ve joined Pledge 1% to help us give even more. Pledge 1% is a global movement that inspires, educates, and empowers every entrepreneur, company, and employee to be a force for good. We are excited to join this elite community of leaders whose combined efforts are finding new ways to make a net positive impact on the world around us.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, our Founder & CEO Sara Rodell joined Pledge 1% Builders on November 29, 2022, to ring the Opening Bell at NASDAQ.
Our commitment to Pledge 1% of our equity will help us power innovation and impact for some of the most important shareholders in our business — non-profit organizations. These partnerships help drive more impact within our three pillars of sustainability:
- Environmental Sustainability: Our efforts to reduce the waste and harmful byproducts from corporate gifting will continue to expand through Pledge 1% as we seek new ways to support and invest in regenerative and sustainable agriculture practices.
- Economic Sustainability: The more we can connect corporate gifting budgets with small business owners, the better it is for our local and global economies. By Pledging 1%, we create direct lines between the corporate spending power and independent creators, makers, and artisans, to stimulate the economy in powerful ways.
- Social Sustainability: As a woman-owned and founded business, Loop & Tie plays a vital role in putting representation in every space and place where the most decisions for our future are being made. We have a responsibility through our Pledge 1% to find opportunities and causes that uplift historically marginalized communities and support causes.
As Loop & Tie embarks on this journey through Pledge 1% to build better, more sustainable practices in corporate gifting, we invite you to join us in finding ways big and small to give back this Giving Tuesday and every day.
