Q&A with Loop & Tie’s Julian Payne
With 6 years of tenure, Julian Payne is an OG Looper at this point. Over the course of his time at Loop & Tie, he’s worn many hats. Today, he’s our fulfillment implementation specialist. Keep reading to find out what Julian’s day-to-day looks like and more.
What does an implementation specialist do?
I’ve worn many hats during my time at Loop & Tie. I currently work on our fulfillment team handling anything related to our warehouse. I also work closely with our sales and account teams to ensure good client and warehouse team experience.
I have a wide range of responsibilities, including setting up the warehouse system for client swag shipments, making sure addresses are validated, keeping an eye on all shipments received and orders, and making sure international shipments are set up in a way ensuring all duties are paid.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Loop & Tie?
The people I work with. I’m lucky enough to have had a role here since late 2016, so I’ve seen our team grow from single digits to over 30 professionals. As we’ve grown, we’ve been able to bring in new people who are always down to dive in headfirst and have a good time doing it. There’s not one person whom you cannot reach out to if you have a question or just want to catch up.
If you had to start a new career tomorrow, what would you want to pursue?
If I was forced to leave Loop & Tie and start a new career, I would look at doing something in the food industry. At some point, I would like to be involved with a restaurant incubator project that provides space for new and upcoming chefs to show people what their food is all about. Patrons would be able to hang out and ideally bring their pets. It’d be cool if I could have a small space to showcase my food, too.
If you could shrink a celebrity down to act as the angel (or devil) on your shoulder for the rest of your life, who would it be and why?
I would take either Will Ferrell or John C. Reilly, but I think they would work well together as an angel and devil duo. I can watch the movies they’re in together anytime no matter how many times I have seen them. I’m not sure they would give great advice but it would be very entertaining.
If you took a month off to travel, where would you go?
If I had a month off I would love to see a few different places. Depending on the time of year I would probably opt for a food and F1 adventure. I would love to see some of the F1 races across Europe as well as take some time to explore the culinary culture they have to offer.
